Dr. Simon Morphett
Simon completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 1992. After 2 years as a junior doctor in Sydney, he and his wife decided to move to Tasmania. He then undertook specialist training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Tasmania and the United Kingdom and was awarded the Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in 2001. He completed dual training in Intensive Care Medicine in 2003. Following this, he returned to Anaesthetics and has since pursued a subspecialty interest in Paediatric Anaesthesia with two stints spent working as a consultant at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide. Simon has held numerous professional roles including at different times Director of the Department of Anaesthesia at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Supervisor of Training at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Chair of the Tasmanian Regional Committee of ANZCA and is currently Clinical Lead for Paediatric Anaesthesia at the Royal Hobart Hospital. He continues to be actively involved in training and teaching both in Tasmania and overseas. His time is split evenly between private and public practice.
