Emergency Surgery
The Hobart Anesthetic Group provides an after hours service for the surgeons we work with. This covers all the private hospitals in Hobart and is coordinated through our own roster.
Private hospitals often receive a number of emergency cases after hours and these are admitted to the hospitals, stabilized and then maybe operated on immediately or at a later time. The Group provides an anesthetist for these cases. They will usually see the patient and then organize a time for the operation with the surgeon. Operations can be delayed if test results are needed or if the patient's medical condition is not stable.

The Group also provides an anaesthetist to assist obstetricians with deliveries or pain relief in labour if required.
